The Western Regional Education Directorate, in collaboration with Komenda College of Education, has officially commenced a two-day workshop on Disciplinary Competence for Assistant Headmasters and Headmistresses across the region.
The programme was hosted by the Regional Director of Education, Mr. Emmanuel Essuman, who delivered the welcome address. In his remarks, he warmly received participants from across the region and emphasized the importance of the training programme. He urged all participants to take the sessions seriously, noting that the knowledge and skills acquired would significantly enhance their effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
The first session was facilitated by Very Rev. Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson, Principal of Komenda College of Education, who provided in-depth insights into the roles and responsibilities of Assistant Headmasters and mistresses, covering Administration, Domestic, and Academic duties. He further highlighted their critical role as in loco parentis, emphasizing the responsibility of acting in the best interest of learners at all times.
The second session was led by Prof. Patricia Mawusi Amos, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Behavioral Sciences in Education – University of Education, Winneba, where she serves as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Behavioural Science in Education. Her presentation focused on behavioural issues in schools, equipping participants with practical skills and strategies to identify, manage, and effectively mitigate behavioural challenges within the school environment.
The workshop continues with a strong focus on nurturing discipline, empathy, and academic success in schools across the Western Region.
